Optimizing System-level Motor Performance for Electric Vehicles

As the electrification of vehicles has grown significantly over the last decade, so has the development of different propulsion systems.

The demand for designing more efficient and powerful electrified powertrains at a lower cost has incrementally increased. The designer must consider system performance instead of a single component and the interactions between the different units to meet these challenges. As we look to predict system performance, these system-level simulations are performed. The Electric Drive United (EDU) includes the electric machine model, the control unit, and the gearbox and can be coupled with a cooling system block.

During this webinar, we will show how to generate different electric motor models from Ansys Motor-CAD, and Ansys Maxwell integrated into system simulation environments in Ansys Twin Builder. We will propose several approaches regarding model fidelity and output requirements and prove the system simulation’s benefits.
